Privacy Notice

What this app stores

Study progress, quiz attempts, selected answers, mistake history, and best scores are stored in your browser's localStorage for local-only use.

Older local or synced attempt records may retain confidence ratings captured before the feature was removed; CertNest no longer requests or uses them.

If Google sign-in is enabled and you sign in, completed quiz attempts are synced to Firebase Firestore under your authenticated user account.

When cloud sync is used, CertNest stores progress in a Firestore document keyed to your Firebase user identifier, currently under userProgress/{userId}.

Progress data may reveal the certifications you are studying, your practice performance, and the subjects or questions you reviewed.

What this app does not require

The app does not require an account, email address, password, payment information, server database, or server-side profile for local-only study.

The app does not intentionally collect sensitive personal information.

Do not enter sensitive personal, financial, health, government-identification, employment-confidential, or exam-confidential information into practice answers, notes, issue reports, or support messages.

Google login and Firebase

If you choose Google sign-in, Firebase Authentication may process your name, email address, profile image, unique account identifier, login status, and technical authentication data according to Google's and Firebase's policies.

Google sign-in uses a provider popup. You may be asked to authenticate through Google or Firebase-controlled pages before returning to CertNest.

Cloud sync is used to restore study progress across browsers or devices and is not intended for sensitive personal, financial, health, legal, or employment records.

Firebase configuration values used by browser apps are public project identifiers, not server secrets. Access control should be enforced through Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules.

Hosting and technical logs

If deployed on Vercel or another hosting provider, that provider may process routine technical data such as IP address, user agent, request time, error logs, and deployment diagnostics according to its own policies.

This project does not add custom analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing cookies by default.

Third-party services and transfers

Google, Firebase, Vercel, GitHub, and other infrastructure providers may process data in locations outside your country according to their own terms and privacy policies.

CertNest does not control those providers' independent processing, retention, security, or legal obligations.

Clearing and deleting your data

You can clear local study history by clearing this site's browser storage in your browser settings.

If you use cloud sync, deleting only browser storage does not delete Firestore records associated with your signed-in account.

Signed-in users can use the delete-account feature on the login page to request deletion of the Firebase Authentication account and the cloud-synced progress document associated with that account.

The delete-account feature offers an option to clear local progress on the current browser. Local progress on other browsers or devices must be cleared separately on those browsers or devices.

Firebase may require a recent Google sign-in before account deletion for security. If deletion is blocked for that reason, sign out, sign back in, and retry deletion.

Deletion does not necessarily remove provider logs, backups, security records, deployment logs, or other records that Google, Firebase, Vercel, GitHub, browsers, networks, or other third parties may retain under their own policies or legal obligations.

Data retention and recovery

Local-only progress remains on the browser until you clear site data or the browser removes it.

Cloud progress remains in Firestore until overwritten through sync, deleted through the account deletion flow, removed by an administrator, or otherwise affected by Firebase configuration or provider retention rules.

After account deletion, CertNest may not be able to restore deleted cloud progress or associate old local progress with the deleted account.

Security

No internet service can guarantee perfect security. Use a trusted device, keep your browser and account credentials secure, and avoid signing in on shared or untrusted devices.

If you administer a deployment, use least-privilege Firebase rules and review hosting, authentication, and database settings before inviting users.

If you delete an account from a shared or untrusted device, also consider clearing browser storage and signing out of Google in that browser.

Children

This site is intended for professional and educational exam preparation and is not directed to children under 13.
